ABSTRACT
In this work, the
effect of temperature and substrate properties on biogas yield from cattle for
the production of biogas were anaerobically studied. Laboratory sized, air
tight, mini digester was used for the retention period of 3 Odays with each
system maintained at specific temperature with deionized water in the ratio of
1: 1 .the sample was thereafter analyzed for crucial physical properties
(moisture, pH, conductivity, carbon, nitrogen, ash and carbon to nitrogen
ratio) before and after anaerobic digestion. At the end of digestion, values
for nitrogen, conductivity and moisture content increased significantly, while
the value for carbon, pH, ash and volatile matter significantly reduced.
consequently, the final cumulative biogas yield at the corresonding temperature
were 39.00,105.10,24.80,910.80 and 111.50cm3respectively. overall, the 45 C
gave the most and best maximum yield.
