Development Of Network Model For Operational Planning In Small Scale Printing Industry:- Akpan, Ima-Obong J
ABSTRACTS
The project work was-undertaken
to find out the development of Network'model for operational planning in small
scale printing industry in Akwa Ibom State. In printing business situations, a
number of different activities must always be performed in a specified sequence
in order to accomplish the printing projects. The study applied network
analysis techniques to determine the minimum duration or the expected time for
the completion of a 2000 copies of texts books, data were collected and
analysed, from four different small scale printing industries in Uyo.
Optimistic time, most likely time, pessimistic time and expected time were
calculated. The time taken to complete the printing work is six days with 80%
chances. To ensure easy compliance with the duration critical activities (jobs)
that required close supervision/management attention during the printing
process were also determined. The critical path ofthe activities was found to

I. This approach form a guide against costly technical mistakes and upwards
review of project costs usually associated with the unnecessary rushing and
delay ofthe projects activities respectively
