ABSTRACT
The study evaluated
organizational structure and employees’ performance in Guinness Nigeria Pic and
Nigeria Bottling Company, Pic, Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria. Five (5) specific
objectives andfive (5) research questions were formulated to provide guidance
to the study. The study employed descriptive research design to evaluate
organizational structure and employees ’ performance in the breweryfirms. The
population ofthe study is 6000 being the total staffstrength ofthe (2) brewery
firms in Nigeria Stock Exchange from 2011-2018 while the sample size was 375
extractedfrom the population using Taro Yamane method. The instrument for the
study was a structured questionnaire. Data obtained were analyzed using a
descriptive type ofsurvey design such asfrequency counts, percentages, and mean
scores in line with the specific objectives while ordinary least squares (OLS)
simple regression analysis techniques were employed in testing the hypotheses
ofthe study. The results ofthe study showed that work specialization on the
quality ofservice in Guinness Nigeria Pic and Nigeria Bottling Company, Pic can
never be overemphasize. The findings of the study suggest that work
specialization has a significant andpositive effect on the quality ofservice
and the main responses were all above the benchmark of 3.00. The research
hypotheses testing done using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) simple regression
analytical technique showed that departmentalization on training hours
ofemployees, chain ofcommand on revenue per employee, centralization on profit
per employee andformalization on employee turnover significantly (at p<
0.05) andpositively influenced employee performance at both Guinness Nigeria
Pic and Nigeria Bottling Company, Pic. In view of the above findings, the study
concludes that adopting appropriate structure is the fulcrum on which employee
performance of brewery firms revolves. The study therefore recommend among
others that Nigeria Brewery firms should give more serious attention in
designing an appropriate structure that must match all departments, units and
component parts of organization to facilitate employee performance at both
GNPic andNBC Pic.
