ABSTRACT
The
study evaluated the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic new-normal on employment
relations in MTN South East, Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study are
to: ascertain the effect of accelerated
digital transformation on employees’ involvement, evaluate the effect of
work from home on employee management and examine the effect of flexible work
arrangements on contract of employment in MTN South East, Nigeria. The study
adopted survey research design. The population of the study consisted of all the
employees of MNT Nigeria in Southeast. Primary and secondary sources of data
were used. Random sampling techniques was used, content validity and Cronbach
Alpha reliability technique were adopted. Descriptive statistics and Ordinary Least Regression analysis were used to analyse the study
objectives and test the hypotheses posited. Findings revealed that: At 1% level (Sig
< .01) of significance, accelerated
digital transformation had a positive and significant effect on employees’ involvement, at 1% level
(Sig < .01) of significance, work from home had a positive and significant effect on employees’ management and at 1% level (Sig < .01) of
significance, flexible work arrangements had a positive and significant effect on contract of employment in
MTN South East, Nigeria. The study concluded that the Covid-19 pandemic
new-normal had a positive and significant effect on employment relations in MTN
South East, Nigeria. Therefore, the study recommended that: MTN Nigeria need to
sustain their digital transformation
platform as it had positive and significant effect on their employees’ involvement. They need to sustain
their organisational drive for digital
literacy and creativity, digital innovation and collaboration, sustain and
continue to enhance the artistry and proficiency of their digital
transformation team that guide the organisational strategy and operations, and
should continue to explore new ecosystem of doing business as this will help
the organisation to harness their employees’
involvement and ability to work
under various digital transformation platforms now
and into the unforeseen future.
