ABSTRACT
Agriculture is Nigeria in the 150s
and 196 is contributed significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
During this period. The export sector contributed 60-70 percent of total
exports. However with the discovery of oil and subsequence export of the
product in commercial quantities in the 1970s. the agricultural export fell
iron 60 – 70 percent to only 17 percent between 1970s to the mid 1980s. the
introduction of the structural adjustment programme (SAP) in 1986 and a policy
shift towards support for growth of traditional non-oil exports led to an
appreciable increase in export. However this growth of non oil exports has not
been consistent, even though there been some recovery. Especially for
non-traditional; export such as pineapple.
