ABSTRACT

The aim of this project work is to evaluate the importance of maintenance culture in the overall profitability of hospitality establishment in Nigeria. This paper ex-rayed the concept of maintenance, benefits of maintenance as well as the cost associated with lack of maintenance culture in 1h hospitality industry, finally recommendations were given and it is the benefit of all readers that if they are judiciously implemented, unnecessary breakdown could be drastically reduced. This research investigation was carried out in three (3)' popular hotels in Owerri and they are concord Hotels, lodan Internationals hotels and Uguta Lake Hotels, to determine the impact of maintenance culture in Hospitability facility management in Nigeria. It aimed at the evaluation of the profit and loss impacted by maintenance culture in hospitability establishments in Nigeria. The stratified random sampling techniques were used in selecting the three hotels, personnel interviews and questionnaire were carried out and presented in a frequency table for systematic analysis using simple percentage calculation. Chi-square Statistical (X2) was used to show the significance of fitness. Percentage of respondence with respect to age were 20 to 40 years (22.7%) and 41 to 65 years (77.8%) impact of maintenance culture shared 76.7% effective and 23.3% non effective. Also 533% supported maintenance cost 30% repair cost and 1615% replacement cost.  Equipment repair showed 76.4% on monthly basis. The. X2statistics showed significance (P<:O.05) that hotels do not have effective maintenance techniques and lack of maintenance of departments.
