Marketing Problems Militating Against Small Scale Industries In Rivers State (A Study Of Some Selected Firms In Nigeria)
ABSTRACT
This
study sets forth to identify the marketing problems militating against small
scale industries in Nigeria, through opinion sampling. The population sampled
consist of entrepreneurs or enterprises in port-Harcourt area of river state.
Data were collected mainly from administered questionnaires. From the study,
the researcher discovered that small scale business industries find it difficult
to raise money to start off their business, it was also discovered that small
scale business operators disagree that the profitability of their business Will
be high without the without a good marketer, it was however acknowledged that small
scale business operators also state that lack of trained marketers contributes
to inefficiency in small scale business organizations. Among others, it was
recommended that government should assist small-scale business operators by
given them loan with little or no interest, seminars and workshops on sm4-scale
business industries. Frequently, the small scale industries on their part
should endeavour to exercise adequate control over their finance and staff for
further improvement in their businesses.
