Information Storage And Retrieval Management As A Tool For Organizational Productivity (A Study Of National Agency For Food And Drug Administration And Control In Anambra State)
ABSTRACT
This study focused on information storage and
retrieval management as a tool for organizational productivity, a study of
NAFDAC in Anambra State. The specific objectives of the study were to; examine
the impact of document retrieval system on organizational performance,
investigate the effect of information technology facilities on organizational
effectiveness, determine the impact of information storage security policies on
organizational growth and evaluate the factors challenging adoption of
information management of NAFDAC in Anambra State. The study was guided by a
descriptive survey design because it gives detailed information about issues,
problems, events and describes events as they are. Both primary and secondary
data were used The population of the study was 180 employees and the sample
size of 124 respondents was obtained using Taro Yamane formular. The researcher
used questionnaire for data collection. The data gathered for the study was
analyzed using Descriptive Analysis. Hypotheses 1 and 2 was tested with Pearson
Correlation Moments while Hypotheses 3 and 4 was tested with ANOVA and Pearson
Chi Square using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences Version 23. The study
found that document retrieval system has a positive significant effect on
organizational performance. There is significant effect of information
technology facilities on organizational effectiveness. Also, there is
significant impact of information storage security policies on organizational
growth. Finally, poor funding and epileptic power supply were among the factors
challenging adoption of information management of NAFDAC in Anambra State. The
study recommended that the Management of NAFDAC in Anambra State should make
polices that will enhance their document retrieval system.
