ABSTRACT

Business process reengineering is a new innovation paradigm through fundamental rethinking and radical redesign on organization business processes that brings the organization to achieve dramatic improvement. In Nigeria oil companies, precisely South-South effort to improve the effectiveness ofbusiness process re-engineering for gaining competitive advantage even though it is new, but they do not fully understand the importance of business process reengineering that drive the successful completion of project. Therefore, the study examined the impact of business process re-engineering on organizational effectiveness (A Study ofMultinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria). The study sought to assess the impact of change management on sustainability, determine the impact of information technology infrastructure on customer satisfaction, examine the effect of organizational structure on employee satisfaction, explore the influence of management competency and support on revenue, examine the effect of project planning and management on profitability, assess the impact oflearning and growth on sales, and ascertain the impact of internal business process on growth of Multinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria. The study adopted a survey design. The study utilized primary data to gather information from the respondents. The target population was seventy-nine thousand seven hundred and sixty-five (79,765) respondents from the selected six states in South-South, Nigeria. The sample size ofthe study was 398 which formed the copies of questionnaire were administered to the selected Multinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria, during the collection ofthe administered questionnaire, 66 copies of questionnaires were wrongly filled, misplaced, void and discarded with a percentage rate of 16.5%, while the questionnaire recovered is 332 with a percentage ratio of 83.5% that aided the study. A stratified sampling method was adopted. Regression model was used to test the dependent and independent variables of the study. The findings ofthe study revealed that Change management has a significant impact on sustainability ofMultinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria with p-value = .005 < .05% significance level. Organizational structure has a significant effect on employee satisfaction of Multinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria with p-value = .000 < .05% significance level. Management competency and support has a significant influence on revenue ofMultinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria with p-value = .000 < .05% significance level. Learning and growth has a significant impact on sales ofMultinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria with p-value = .003 < .05% significance level and Internal business process has a significant impact on growth ofMultinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria with p-value = .005 < .05% significance level. The study concluded that Information technology infrastructure has a significant impact on customer satisfaction of Multinational Oil Corporations in South-South, Nigeria with p-value = .002 < .05% significance level. The study recommended that organizations under the study should invest in information technology and educate their employees on how to use the technologies to reduce operation costs, increase operation speed and improve service and product quality. Management under the study are advised to improve and correctly define their internal business process objectives. This is due to the fact that an incorrectly defined business objective result in reengineering process failure as the contribution of business process reengineering is reduced to negative.
