ABSTRACT

The study examined the impact of motivation on the achievement of organizational goals. Following the importance ofthe relationship between employee motivation and the achievement oforganizational goal ofthe study, the following objectives were considered; to determine the relationship between employees motivation and achievement of organizational goal in Imo Housing Estate, ascertain the factors affecting staffmotivation in Imo Housing Estate, determine the effect ofmotivation on organizational goal. For the study to be feasible, 82 respondents with the help of well-structured questionnairewas administered to the respondents. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and multiple regression analysis vis-a-vis Eviews 8.0 Statistical package 4and consequently interpreted.The followingfindings were made: the socio-economic profile ofthe respondent were favorable, for instance, the mean age ofthe respondents in the study was 33years indicating that these workers are still active and productive. Secondly, there was positive relationship between employee’s motivation and achievement of organizational goal: increase in employees ’ motivation resulted to increase in achievement of organizational goal. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination, work experience (0.04), educational qualification (0.64), Poor Salary (0.11), lack offinance (0.30), recognition (0.03) and promotion (0.04), are positively related to employee performance, while Management (-0.016), Corruption (-0.14) are negatively related. Therefore, it was concluded that motivation has a positive and negative impact on the achievement oforganizational goal. It was recommended that: For public organization to benefit from these motivational tools effectively, first it is necessary to establish recognition as a widely applied practice. Awarding certificate ofappreciation should be established as a more frequently used method rather than an incentive that is used only in some exceptional cases and also provision ofsocial services such as health and housingfacilities and involvement ofemployees on social activities such as sports activities i.e. family day as non-monetary incentives among the member of the organization may help to enhance motivation on employees by creating positive work environment.
