ABSTRACT

This research work is carried out to investigate the impact ofTotal Quality Management (TQM) on organizational productivity, taking 7-Up Nigeria Bottling Company Pic Aba Abia State as a case study. The specific objectives of the study are to examine the relationship between total- - quality management (TQM) and organizational productivity, to examine the relationship between employees ’ involvement and total quality management (TQM) practices, to identify the factors influencing successful implementation of total quality management (TQM) and to measure employees'job satisfaction & commitment with total quality management (TQM).The researcher adopted the survey descriptive research design, The populationfor this study was 210 Staff while the sample size was 138 which were determined using Taro Yamane formula. The instrumentfor data collection was mostly questionnaire and interview and the sources of data were primary and secondary sources. The data were analyzed using simple regression statistical tools. The study concluded that there is significant relationship between total quality management (TQM) and organizational productivity in 7-Up Nigerian Bottling Company Pic. that there is significant and positive relationship between employees’ involvement and total quality management (TQM) practices. That some significant factors such high cost of material, shortage of manpower, lack of customers’ satisfaction etc hinder the successful implementation oftotal quality management (TQM) in 7-Up Nigeria Bottling Company Pic, Aba and Employees ’ job satisfaction & commitment significantly and positively measure with total quality management (TQM) to bring improved organizational productivity in 7-Up Nigeria Bottling Company Pic, Aba. T}ie researcher made the recommendations that Since there is significant relationship between total quality management (TQM) and organizational productivity in 7-Up Nigerian Bottling Company Pic, the management of 7-Up Nigerian Bottling Company Pic should as a matter offact practice TQM in the organization. The management of 7-Up Nigerian Bottling Company Pic should endeavour to involve the employees mostly the staff ofthe production section in decision making that will affect the quality of the product since there is significant and positive relationship between employees' involvement and total quality management (TQM) practices, Management should as a matter of necessity tackle these factors \such high cost of material, shortage of manpower, lack of customers’ satisfaction etc that hinder the successful implementation of total quality management (TQM) in 7-Up Nigeria Bottling Company Pic, Aba and Employees should always work towards job satisfaction & commitment as it has a significant and positive measure with total quality management (TQM) as to bring improved organizational productivity in 7-Up Nigeria Bottling Company Pic, Aba.
