ABSTRACT

This research work on "Evaluation of the Effect of Employee Recruitment and Selection on Organizational Performance" is a five chapter work The research work is geared towards identifying the methods mostly used by Nigerian organizations on employee/ workers recruitment and selection and to identify and discuss the problems faced by those officers that engage in recruitment and selection among others. The objective of the study is to identify the factors that affect recruitment and selection of employee in Nigeria police force, to investigate the extent of Nepotism in Recruitment and Selection affects the success employee performance, to examine the effect education and socio-cultural factors in recruitment and selection in organization, to ascertain the impact of effective Recruitment and selection on organization performance. The ยท method used in the research work is survey design. The population was 200 using Taro Yamane 's formula. the sample size of 133 was gotten. While Face and content validity was used for validity of instrument. Crouback Alpha was used for reliability coefficient and five point Liker/ scale for the questionnaire. The method of data analysis was Table presentation percentage method while the hypothesis was tested using chi-square and z-test. The major findings of the research work include: Corruption and favoritism have significant effect on recruitment and selection of employee (X'.%= 7.200 > Xnsr = 5.991; p <0.05); Nepotism in recruitment and selection has significant effect on recruitment and selection in organization (X,, = 90.252> Xa= 9.488; p <0.05); Education and socio-cultural factors have significant effect on recruitment and selection in organization (X'1= 92.777 > X .sr = 9.488; p < 0.05); and Effective selection of employee have no significant impact on organization's performance (Xy= 4.500> XGear = 3.841; p <0.05). However, it was recommended that ethnicity should not determine who should be in any organization and corruption should be avoided in the police recruitment and selection process
