ABSTRACT

The study examines effects ofplanning as an effective tool for achieving organizational objectives a study ofjilnas Nigeria limited umuahia Abia State. The objectives ofthe study is to determine how planning can be used as an effective tool for achieving organisational objectives. Survey research design was adopted to gather data from the 120 staff ofjilnas Nigeria limited umuahia Abia State, data for this project was collected using a stratified sampling technique and the sampling size of the population was derived using Yaro Yamane’sformula which gave a sample size of92. Data was collected with a well-structured questionnaire and was analyzed using percentage technique and chi-square method at 0.05 level ofsignificance was used to testfor hypothesis. The results ofthe study therefore reveal that there is significant relationship between effective planning and organizational productivity, there is significant relationship between the challenges of effective planning and organizational objectives and there is significant relationship between the effect oflong term planning and organisational performance. Hence it is therefore recommended that management is advised to effectively have the planning exercise which is absolutely necessary in organization since it helps to a great extent at increasing the quality ofgoods produced by the organization which also enhance the general performance of the organization leading to the attainment of organization objectives, management should also ensure that communication channels within the organization are well maintained so that plans formulated should be communicated to the other members of the organization for effective implementation, management should provide a control measure to check on the performance ofsubordinates in order not to deviate from stated plans and for necessary corrections among other effective planning control measures.
