ABSTRACT

This study  examines   the Effect  of Corporate  Social  Responsibility    Costs  on the Performance   of Money  Deposit  Banks  in  Nigeria   (a study  of selected    Sanks  in Nigeria).    The researcher   adopted   longitudinal    and  non-probabilistic     sampling method for  this  work.  The data for the  study  emerged from   secondary   sources. Annual  reports  of the six (6) selected  banks  in Nigeria.   ranging from 201 :!-:!O  16 for  each bank were extracted.   The variables  used were.   CSRC as the independent variable,    while  the dependent   variables  irere PAT.  Demand  Deposit.   ROE. and ROA.     The study  adopted  both descriptive   and simple  regression   techniques    o] data  analysis.   The study  revealed  that  there   is a significant   effect  of  corporate social  responsibility    costs  on corporate  performance   of money  deposit  honks  in Nigeria.    other  findings    were:    a  significant    effect  was   established     between corporate  social   responsibility   costs  and    profit   after  tax  of  banks  in Nigerta. corporate  social  responsibility   costs  have significant   effect on demand  deposits of  banks  in Nigeria  and that there  is no significant   effect oj C RSCs  011  RUrl  and ROE of banks in Nigeria.  The study recommends  among other things  that,  Money Deposit   banks  in Nigeria  should  make  efforts  to  increase   their  commitment   tu corporate  social  responsibility    activities   such  as Nigerian   Law School.   Project Internally  Displaced  Persons.   Construction    of Primary  Health  Care Centre.   etc.
