Academic Transcript Processing System In The Department Of Computer Science, Michael Okpara University Of Agriculture

ABSTRACT

This project study presents the design and implementation of an Academic Transcript Processing System for the Computer Science Department ofMichael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. The system was developed to address inefficiencies and inaccuracies inherent in the traditional manual process of transcript management. By automating student record management, transcript requests, and result processing, the system streamlines administrative tasks and enhances data accuracy. Utilizing a three-tier architecture, the system integrates a user-friendly web interface with a robust backend powered by PHP and MySQL, ensuring secure and efficient handling of academic data. The results obtained from system testing and user acceptance evaluations demonstrate significant improvements in the speed and reliability of transcript processing. The automated GPA and CGPA calculations eliminate manual errors, while role-based access control enhances security by restricting unauthorized data access. User feedback indicated increased satisfaction due to ease of use, transparency in request status tracking, and prompt transcript generation. Additionally, the system's audit trail functionality promotes accountability and facilitates administrative oversight. Key findings highlight that the implementation of this system effectively reduces administrative workload, minimizes processing delays, and enhances overall service delivery within the department. The study concludes that digitization of academic transcript management is vital for modern educational institutions seeking to improve operational efficiency and student satisfaction. Recommendations include scaling the system university-wide and integrating it with other academic management platforms for a comprehensive digital ecosystem.
