ABSTRACT

The study examined the effectiveness of training and development in achieving organization objectives (A study of Saclux Industries Nigeria Limited Umuahia Abia State). The specific · objectives were to; determine the effect of job training and development on employee's performance; determine the effectiveness of training and development methods on employees' ·· proficiency; ascertain the relationship between employee development and achieving organizational objectives and to determine the factors affecting training and development of employees in the organization. Primary data sourced from distribution of questionnaires to . staff of Sacha Industries Nigeria Limited Umuahia Abia State were used for the study. A testre-test was conducted to ensure validity and reliability of the data. The data were presented using simple frequency and percentage and were analyzed using simple regression, Chisquare statistical model, correlation coefficient and multiple regression model. The result reveal that job training and development has significant effect on employee 's performance. The chi-square result show that effectiveness of training and development ·methods has significant influence on employees' proficiency in Sacha Industry. The correlation result • revealed that there· is positive relationship between employee developments and achieving organizational objectives in Sacha Industries Nigeria Limited Umuahia, Abia State. Finally, the multiple regression result revealed that capital, competition, employees' level of education, poor management and working condition were all significant factors affecting training and development of employees in the organization .. It was recommended that Onthe-Job method of employee training and development is highly recommended to the organizations. These methods ensure that there is no loss of man hours as a result of off-thejob trainings where employees travel out of the country or out of station to tour around Thus, the effectiveness of training is enhance through practices .
