ABSTRACT

The purpose of this study is to investigate on “effect of strategic planning on the productivity of Dubic Company Aba, Abia State”. The objective is to find out if Dubic Company practices strategic planning, to examine the processes involve in strategic planning, to determine if the employees understand what is being done on strategic planning, to examine the problems encountered by Dubic Company in installing and implementing strategic planning. A cross-sectional survey of the Quasi-experimental design was adopted and used for this study. The analytical tool used for this research work is simple descriptive statistics. The population of this study consists of 130 employees and of which the sample size 104 was drawn from. 104 questionnaires were distributed out of which 92 was correctly filed and returned and 12 was incorrectly filled and not returned. In order to ensure highest level ofreliability and validity, a face-to-face interview was conducted within twenty-thirty minutes. The main findings of this work indicate that strategic planning has significant effect on organizational productivity, there was relationship between strategic planning and employee performance, there are problems encountered in installing and implementing strategic planning. Finally, this study has recommended that an effective strategic planning should be employed and all cross-functional unit head should be involved in strategic planning for easy implementation of strategic plans, and also there should be a control measure to know how far plans are achieved.
