Effect Of Road Transportation Services On The Marketing Of Cocoa Products In Ikwuano L.G.A Abia State, Nigeria
ABSRTACT
This study was initiated to assess the impact of road
transportation services on the marketing of cocoa product in lkwuano Local
Government Area, Abia state Nigeria. The aim of the study was, to determine the
impact of influence of road transportation on distribution of cocoa product,
analyze the profitability of cocoa production and determine the factors
influencing the distribution of cocoa production in the study area. The data
were generated by individual interview using pie-tested structured
questionnaire. This was suppiemented by secondary data collection from
different published and unpublished sources. Robust OLS regression econometric
model was used to analyze the determinants of distribution variable influencing
distribution of cocoa product in the study area. The results obtained from this
analysis indicate that inadequate transportation facilities, poor road
condition and high cost of transportation have a positive significance on the
distribution of cocoa product in the study area. The correlation analysis
indicates that the nature or condition of the road in the study area affect
greatly the price of cocoa within the study area. The result shows a positive
value which indicates a closely related relationship between the poor road
condition and price of cocoa products, i.e. an increase in one of the variable
will lead to increase in the other variable.
