Analysis Of The Adoption Of Agricultural Marketing Among Rice Farmers In Ebonyi State
Abstract
Agricultural marketing has become one of the
major ways of enhancing efficiency + in the agricultural product markets in the
tropics. This motivated the researcher j to investigate the adoption of
agricultural marketing among rice farmers in Ebonyi State. Ir. order to achieve this, the study
stated the following specific objectives namely: to describe the socio-economic
characteristics of the respondents; determine the factors that influence the
profitability of the enterprise, analyze !the structure, conduct, market
constraints and opportunities of the rice market in Ebonyi State. The study
made use of primary data which were collected through 'questionnaire which were
later analyzed with simple percentages. Regression analyses were adopted to
test the stated hypotheses. After the study, it was conducted profit in the
enterprise depends on age, income level, household size, marketing cost, sales
volume etc, while high risk and high cost were the major .constraints of facing
agricultural marketing in the study area. Thus, we recommended the adoption of
agricultural marketing in Ebonyi state, despite the constraints.
