                                                                          ABSTRACT

This is a study on market acceptance of made in Nigeria goods. The purpose of this study was to find out consumers attitude and behavior towards locally made goods. The study towards locally made products like shoes, hand bags and rug carpets, whereas consumers prefer the foreign ones more. Among the major findings are Consumers prefer the foreign made good to locally produced ones. Local goods are more highly prices than the foreign goods. Consumption pattern for made in Nigeria goods varies with income level to consumers. Consumers patronize goods that satisfies their desire irrespective of were they are made. Quality is the over-riding consideration in determining the choice of locally made goods or foreign goods, including price durability, and attractiveness of design. Status symbol after the purchase patterns of consumers from the analysis of the research, the following recommendations were made: -Consumers preference for imported foreign goods signifies that locally made goods cannot compete favorably with the imported ones therefore the ban on the importation of rug carpet, shoes and handbags should not only be continued but should be made vigorously entered. It suggests that more appeals should be made to consumers to patronize locally made goods on emotional and patriotic grounds. Manufactures in Nigeria should improve the quality of their manufactured goods and communicate this to the consumers. They should also Endeavour to counteract the lack of durability notion held by most Nigeria consumers. Furthermore, manufactures should in their promotion processes portray their locally made goods as manifesting high, durability and comfort ability.
