A Time Series Analysis Of Umudike Monti Climatic Data On Sun Shine (2000 -2011)
ABSTRACT
The major objective of the study is
to construct a suitable time series model which could predict a reliable and
dependable ternate of the future occunence • of Sunshine in Umudike Umuahia
Abia State. Su1ishiie data of Umudike Umuahia Abia State for the period 2000 —
2011 was used for the study. The data was presented on monthly basis and covers
the period of January 2000 to December 20.11. The data used was collected from
Agro-metrology Department of National Root Crops Research Institute (N. R. C.
R. 1) Umudike Urnuahia Abia state. The Box and Jenkins iterative roc.re was
used. The plot Df the original sunshine Urnudike data and its associated
Auocol Elation function and Partial autocorrelation function plots showed that
the data is non-stationary. A seasonal differencing of order 12 was applied to
the original data to obtain a series which the plotted Autocorrelation function
and Partial autocorrelation function showed a sine-wave and damped decay
starting from a few lags. Finally, S ARIMA (1, 2, 2) *(1, 1,0)12iode fitted for
the Umudike sunshine data for the period under consideration.
