ABSTRACT

A Study on the Use ofICT in Administration of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike helps to reduce complexity and enhance the overall administration of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike such as (processing of results, certificates and registration). The paper investigated availability, accessibility and use of ICT in the management of student academic affairs. Specific Objective were used in the study to ascertain the levels of availability, accessibility and use of ICT for exam and registration management in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike. Three hypotheses were formulated from the research questions which are related to the objectives. Primary and secondary data was sourced from questionnaire and physical observation while secondary data were obtained from already existing work of others in the field and comprised of project works, statistical records, journals, textbooks, annual reports of the ICT directorate at Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike and related books. The population of the study constitute of ICT staff, academic staff and students of College of Management Sciences in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike with a total number of 4,014. Students 3,817, academic staff of College of Management Sciences 124 and ICT staff 73. Taro Yamane's formula was used for the sample size determination which gave a total figure of 364. According to the findings, alternative hypothesis (HI) of hypotheses one and three were accepted based on the calculation and decision criteria used. It was revealed that to ascertain the levels of availability, accessibility and use of ICT in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, ICT facilities like internet, computers, electronic database were considered. One of the recommendations is that generous financial support should be madeavailable to provide the basic of ICT infrastructural facilities.
