ABSTRACT

The domestic rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus) has in recent years become a species of farm animal with high economic importance, this could be said to have been as a result of high demand for protein of animal origin in most developing countries like Nigeria, which has outstripped the supplies (Ani and Adiegwu, 2005). A solution to the problem is to increase production of highly reproductive animals with short generation intervals such as rabbit (Smith, 2001). However, intensive micro livestock farming in Nigeria has been greatly affected by some important parasites. In the tropics, rabbit production has been on the decrease because of some endemic parasitic 'V diseases among them include the gastrointestinal (Gil) parasites mainly coccidian and helminthes which have been prevalent among rabbits in some areas of the world and have caused most mortality and morbidity witnessed among these animals (Aduma, 1978).
