Utilization Of Information And Communication Technology (Ict) In Teaching Agricultural Science In Senior Secondary Schools In Afikpo South L.Gia Of Ebonyi State
ABSTRACT
The relevance of ICT in the teaching and learning process among teachers and
pupils of various post primary institution of learning cannot be over emphasized.
Learning will be effective and functional if instructional materials are used in
teaching (Mkpa, 1987). Information and communication technology (ICT) which
include radio and television, as well as newer digital technology such as computer
and the internet, have been touted as potentially powerful enabling tools for
teaching agricultural science in schools. ICT is concerned with the storage,
retrieval, manipulation, transmission or receipt of information electronically in a
digital form Bass, (2009).
According to Adomi (2010), information and communication technologies (ICTs)
are electronic technologies used for information storage and retrieval. Ayodele and
Oluwarabi (2012), defines ICT as electronic based technology that is generally
used to retrieve, store, process, and package information as well as provide access
to knowledge. The development of micro-computer, optical disc, the
establishments of telecommunication network, television, and internet have
assisted in broadening people's knowledge and facilitating effective
communication.
