Trend Analysis Of The Issuance Of Credit Facilities To Customers In Nigerian Commercial Banks - A Case Study Of Citizens International Bank Limited (1996 - 2000]
ABSTRACT
This
study is aimed at the construction of a mathematical model for the number of
customers that come for credits in Citizens International bank Ltd., which is
used to predict reliable and dependable future credits values. In particular,
it was intended to estimate and isolate the components of time series: Trend,
Seasonal effects, cyclical effects and Irregular effects present in the data
using the descriptive time series approach. This however, was carried out via
the estimation and isolation of the model of the original data. This study
carried out from the period of January 1996, through December 2000. The data
was collected from the Marketing Research Department of Citizens International
Bank Ltd. Lagos. The result of the analysis showed amongst others that; - a.
All components of time series were present in the data. b. On the average, the
number of customers that came to the bank for loan with the period under
consideration is 6813.9. c. It was noted that from July to November, have the
greatest positive seasonal index while from February to June have the greatest
negative seasonal index. The work however suggest some ways that will help the
bank control the numbers of customers that came for credit and check excessive leading.
