ABSTRACT
The work “statistical evaluation
on the effect of deafness on the Nigerian population and its age prevalence was
set up as a result ofthe ill effort made by the government of Nigerian to help
map out strategies of reducing the occurrence of most disabilities especially
that of deafness, the work aims at raising awareness on the state ofthis ill
health and to orientate individuals on the state ofthe disability , to carry
out these objectives , the work applies various statistical tools which
includes the sex ratio estimator. Which shows that out of every 100 persons
reported as deaf females in the census about 100.75% were reported as deaf
males, also graph of the ASRD appears to increase gradually from age 0-30 and
rapidly from age 35-75 and furthermore this shows that deafness is
significantly associated with age. The plot established so far suggests that
the deafness pattern for male follows a quadratic fit while that female seems
to be cubic. A pyramid constructed shows that the hearing disability is less in
ages 0-4, but the rate increases as the individual advances in age. Hence these
are common in people between the ages of 60-75yrs.
