Abstract
The
outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic has a nostalgic implication on education and its
methods of teaching. This ushered in online teaching method also known as
e-leaming. "hich was found to be suitable and more convenient in reducing
Covid-19 negative impact on education method of dcli\'cn. This new normal
inimduccJ and necessitates faculty members' upgrade in skills and competences
to be able to carry out online teaching activities with ease. Faculty who arc
trained and supponcd as professionals for onfine teaching are likely to
understand and deliver on line models effectively. This study adopted a survey
design with a population of 5 faculty members of Library and Information
Science dcpanments from MOUA' and IMSU. Twenty-one (21 item rating scale
questionnaire was used to elicit information from the respondents while mean
scores and simple percentages were used to analyze the collected data. Findings
revealed that these skills and competencies required for effective on line
education delivery can be accessed through workshops, seminars. penal
discussion. mini courses. directed publications and teleconferences. Faculty
disinterest in professional development for online teaching is identified among
others as a major challenge for faculty professional development.
