Time Series Analysis Of Income Tax Revenue Of Abia State From 1998 To 2003
ABSTRACT
Income tax revenue can be looked at as the
country's major sources of income from personal income, properties and others.
The major objective of this work is to design a mathematical model that could
be used to forecast dependable future values of income tax revenue of Abia
state as well as evaluating the revenue data so as to see if it is normally
distributed and has constant variance and also whether the data is random or
not. Also, the components of time series present in the data was also estimated
and isolated. The survey covers monthly income tax revenue of Abia State
between January 1998 to December 2003. The main method of analysis used in this
work is the time series analysis and the Additive model was also applied. The
result showed that the revenue increases by 1.20 in million per month, where
November had the highest seasonal index and January had the lowest. It was also
revealed that the monthly income tax revenue data was not normally distributed
and also the variance were not all equal.
