Statistical Analysis Of Certain Prisoners Variables On The Type Of Crime They Committed (A Case Study Of Owerri Prison):- Ugwu, Uche K
ABSTRACT
This project was base on the data collected
from Owerri Prison. This data collected were however classified according to
the tests we carried out, which were presented in contingency tables.
Chi-square distribution was used for the test of independence btw the type of
crime committed and some prisoners variables. From the results we observed that
there are many other factors that also predispose one to crime. The normality
test for prisoner’s length sentence was carried out and found that it was
normally distributed. The exponential distribution test or goodness-of-fit
ofprisoner’s length oftrial was carried out and it was found to be a good fit.
The number of prisoner’s previous convictions was carried out using Poisson
distribution goodness-of-fit test which was a good fit for the test. With the
test of these distributions give a number of prisoners, one can then forecast
the prisoner’s length of sentence, prisoner’s length of judgement was delivered
or even prisoners number of previous convictions.
