Statistical Analysis Of Certain Prisoners Variables On The Type Of Crime They Committed (A Case Study Of Owerri Prison)
ABSTRACT
The law violators and his victim,
providing vicarious involvement as well as otherwise taboo information about
the way in which some people live their lives. In countries like South Africa,
Britain and Nigeria just to mention but a few stones of brutal violence, clever
robbery and ingenious swindle continually beguile. The public imagination, such
stories receive a prominent place, in social conversation, conspicuous
positions in the newspapers and much attention in the radio and television.
Mystery and detective fiction provide a consistently high proportion of the Imo
state reading diet. In Imo state it has been noted that there are crimes and
exploits, successful and unsuccessful, of criminal given greater attention and
publicity. In addition to its extra ordinary appeal to public imagination,
crime is also the object of much sober concern, considerable headshaking, and
often a large amount of strong distaste, disquiet and horror. Crime threatens,
lives and property of all citizens, unlike a disease such as AIDS, which tends
to be regarded as an immutable aspect of the roulette of human existence, crime
is seen as a phenomenon that somehow might be avoided and controlled in order
to allow the potential victims to be free from his uneasiness.
