Multi Variate Analysis On Students Academic Performance Using Selected Courses [A Case Study Of Statistics And Computer Science Departments Mouau)
ABSTRACT
This study examines the academic performance of students from Statistics and
Computer Science departments of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture
(MOUAU) using selected courses taught by the same lecturer and examined under
the same condition. The data for this study is a secondary data collected from both
departments on their first semester 2012/2013 academic section ofMTH112,
CHM1 13, GSS1 11 and GSS1 14. Since this poses a multivariate scenario, the I-
square multivariate approach was applied to test the hypothesis of equality of mean
at 5% after certifying the underlying assumptions. It is observed that the mean
performance of the two departments are significant under the unequal variance
condition. On the basis of this, it is recommended that departments should
encourage their students to work hard in order to improve on their performances.
