ABSTRACT

 The study examined the impact of planning and 'forecasting on organizational pe,jormnce with a particular reference to Nigeria Bottling Company Plc Irete Onitsha Road Owerri, Imo state Nigeria. The objective is to determine if a significant relationship exists between strategic planning in a business organization and its growth, to investigate if adequate forecasting helps in ensuring efficient productivity of the business and to identify the major tools for planning and forecasting and how to effectively use those to reduce business failures or distress. Survey method of analysis was adopted for the study. A set of structured questionnaire was used as instrument for data collection and administered to 250 respondent randomly using Taro Yamane and 154 were duly filled and returned. The data was then analyzed using SPSS version. The result showed forecasting and Budget tool show a positive and significant relationship with Business growth, this implies that other planning activities like forecasting and budgeting in Nigerian Bottling Company also contribute to the business potentials enjoyed by the orgmlization. The study therefore concludes, for any business organization to continue as a going concern. planning and forecasting strategies must be deployed and at the right time to help boost the activities of the organization and position such economic entity in a more competitive way Jo profit the owners and various stakeholders. The study recommends that effective feedback mechanism is recommended to be integrated in the planning and forecasting strategies to enable management to compare plans with the outcome.
