ABSTRACT
This experiment was conducted to evaluate effect of diet arty rnethionine and lysinc supplementation on tile growth rate, feed efficiency, carcass chai-acteristics, carcass quality and economic of production of broiler finisher. 111115 600 Anak broiler chicks fed broiler starter feed (23% CP/12.0Mj Me/kg) ad-libiluin for the first 4 weeks of life. At the end of 41 week, 280 chicks were randomly selected and allocated to treatment diets in duplicate lots of 20 chicks each. They wcre also fed and watered ad-libitum. Tile experiment lasted for 6 weeks, simple descriptive statistics and analysis of variance were used to analyse the data collected while the New Multiple Range Test was employed to compare treatment nieans found to be statistically significant (P<0.05). Result showed that performance parameters such as mean total feed intake, meal daily feed intake and feed conversion ratio were significantly (P<0.05) influenced. It was lurther observed that both diets supplemented with 0. 1 % methionijic and/or 0. 1 % lysine (D4and D5) supported higher body (P<0.05) body weight (13W). Body weight gain (BWG) and improved feed conversion ratio (FCR) compared to the otllers. Diet 4 also gave the best cost benefit thus Illaking it tile best diet among tile seven treatment diets. Overall observation of the carcass composition of the broiler shoed no definite pattern for tile dressed weight, and % drumstick were significantly (P<0.05), influenced. It can be concluded that supplementing broiler finisher diet with 0.1% niethioninc will bring about high productivity at least cost without affecting meat quality.
