ABSTRACT

The research work study "Analysis of Income of rural dwellers in Abia State". The choice of this topic by the researcher was necessitated by self-interest and urgency to ascertain the stale of income of rural dwellers in Abia State. This study was carried out in Abia State. A well-structured questionnaire was designed, administered and collated to obtain primary, data that was used to carry ouf the statistical analysis. The data was analyzed using inferential statistics and multiple regression. Age, educational level ,sex and marital status of the respondents were the significant variables as well as the determiname of the rural dwellers. Age and sex was significant at 10% level respectively and was inversly related to income of the respondent, educational level and marital status were significant at 5% and 10% respectively and were directly related to icome of the rural dwellers.the Levi of income of the rural dwellers was found to be high, this could be because of their involvedment in different agricultural and non agricultural activities to generate income. Based on the findings, ii was recommended that government and it agencies should make loan available to farmers_ inorder loenable them enlarge their business activities. This loan should come with low inters/ rate to expand their operations. Government should make available basic infrastructural facilities to ease transportation from their houses to their fields for different agricultural activities .since majority of the respondent were involved in farming , farmers should be provided with improved varieties of seed, storage facilities for sustainable farming.
