ABSTRACT

 Booking online has become convenient for people as they can browse the internet at their own leisure and find all the information about potential hotels or vacations before making a decision. One trend the travel industry is facing is that people are increasingly opting against using travel agents, and instead are doing their own research and bookings online. This project aims to provide an online web based application that will allow prospective tourist look for recommended hotels and book for rooms available in the hotel, to provide a simple and easy to user interface for the online system to encourage visitors stay on the website and look for available accommodations in the hotel and to provide an online catalogue displaying the rooms that are available for reservation along with other related information pertaining to them like price. The study used the waterfall model methodology. Records and information about the hotels are stored using the MySQL online database server while the middleware application were implemented using the PUP server side scripting language in the preceding sections. The research project also recommended that online application project should be hosted on a foreign web server as there will be guarantee of reliable access to the information system as the problems such as power outages and poor service delivery, which could be experienced when hosting the application locally, will be avoided and information's stored on the online database should be stored in an encrypted format so as to further provide protection against intrusion.
