ABSTRACT

The increasing complexities of financial transactions and the growing demand for accuracy, efficiency, and transparency in financial auditing have necessitated the adoption of computerbased auditing systems. This study aims to develop and implement a computer-based financial audit system for a manufacturing company in Abia State to address the challenges associated with manual auditing, such as delays, human errors, and data security concerns. The research will adopt the Waterfall methodologies and Agile methodologies, a structured approach that applies object-oriented principles throughout the software development process. The system is developed using HTML, CSS, and Python, chosen for their platform independence and ability to support a web-based application accessible from multiple devices. Upon successful implementation, the system is expected to significantly enhance audit accuracy, with improved error detection capabilities. It is anticipated that financial transparency and accountability will be strengthened, leading to a reduction in discrepancies in financial statements. Additionally, the system is projected to reduce audit completion time, enabling faster decision-making and improved regulatory compliance. The expected outcome of this study is a computer-based financial audit system that will enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of financial auditing processes, ensuring greater transparency, compliance, and improved decision-making for the organization.
