ABSTRACT
This study underscores the
potential of designing and implementing a web-based parking lot management
system aimed at enhancing efficiency, user experience, and optimal space utilization
in urban environments. Traditional parking management methods rely heavily on
manual processes, leading to congestion, delays, errors, and limited
accessibility. To address these issues, the proposed system leverages modem web
technologies, including cloud computing, real-time data processing, and IoT
integrations, to automate slot allocation, enable remote booking, and
facilitate cashless payments. The methodology employs an agile development
approach, incorporating algorithms such as First-Come, First-Served and a
timeout mechanism to ensure fair and flexible slot management. The system
architecture adopts a three-tier model with intuitive user interfaces for
clients and administrators, supported by a scalable MongoDB database. Empirical
evaluations, including system demonstrations and use case scenarios, confinn
that the system reduces manual intervention, improves space utilization, and
offers real-time updates. Despite its successes, the research highlights
ongoing challenges, including cybersecurity threats, high implementation costs,
and the need for broader user acceptance, especially among less tech-savvy
populations. Future directions suggested by this work involve integrating
advanced technologies like IoT sensors for automatic vehicle detection, license
plate recognition for enhanced security, and secure online payment gateways to
streamline transactions. Recommendations include integrating additional
security features, IoT sensors, and license plate recognition technologies to
further optimize parking operations.
