ABSTRACT

Considering the need for an internationally recognized and acceptable video rental management system, an effective video rental management system that will help video stores to make their business more efficient in terms ofrenting videos and other services has been developed in this project. The user ofthis system will be the manager ofthe video store and the clerk. The system will need to access four types of data. They are the database of the customers, Manager, clerk and films statistics. By accessing the database ofmembers and the films, the system will be able to determine the film category that the customers prefer most and make them most accessible to the customer. Movie statistics will play a big role in determining the correct amount of copies in a specific movie title to purchase. The project generates automatic id (barcode) for each film, tops stock in the rental shop, deletes and retrieves information about a particular film. The new system generates unique id for each customer so as to reduce redundancy and data anomaly. The manager ofthe new system will be able to checkmate the clerk and total transactions made in the shop and find out how many rental items are currently rented. This operation is performed very frequently and the records are kept up to date. This project will strengthen the asset turnover in the video stores and help the video stores to make more profit. The store will not run out of copies and will be able to satisfy more customers. The manager will be able to modify the video store in a best way that appeals to the customers and clerk. When the customers enter the store, they will be able to find the release they want much easier and much quicker
