Design And Implementation Of Business Management Software Using Structured Database Techniques. (A Case Study Of Star Electronics Company Aba)
ABSTRACT
In most modern business, there are
pressing needs for proper record and data/information management. Information
has decision-making attributes, hence a great degree of how organizations fares
is dependent on the quality of information available to management. Therefore,
it has become necessary for business activities to have a well designed data
and record management system with the sole objective of ensuring that business
activities are properly monitored, recorded and necessary reports obtained.
This would then go a long way in making business management easier and more
efficient. This project was aimed at designing a business management software for
a medium scale enterprise involved in routine transaction processing activities
using Star Electronics Company Aba as a case study. The transaction processing
activities covered in this work includes- • Invoicing • Customer Record System.
• Inventory Tracking and Management. • Estimation of Profit Margin based on
available stock. • Order Entry. To achieve the design objective of this work,
structured database design principles was followed, since all data was stored
in a single database. Record V Ii manipulation was controlled by program codes.
Structured Programming principles was followed such that a software was
designed and developed using Visual Basic programming language with Micro soft
Access for the data base. The various design stages and the program development
were done based on the facts gathered from interview and questionnaire research
methodologies.
