Design And Implementation Of An Electronic Funds Transfer System With An Advanced Fraud Check Mechanism (A Case Study Of The Standard Trust Bank And The EFCC)
ABSTRACT
Electronic Funds transfer (EFT)- the
electronic transfer of funds from one bank account to another; being an
offspring of information technology has contributed immensely to the growth and
development of Ecommerce and E-Banking. This can be clearly seen from the
statement made by Wagner Martin G. "Electronic funds transfer is another
step towards our goal of implementing E-commerce". Electronic funds
transfer has made the transfer of funds from one point to another easier and
faster as money sent can be received in few seconds over states, cities and
even continents. This research work limits its scope to only domestic/local
transfers i.e. transfers made within a country, using the Internet as the
medium upon which the transactions are made. This research project takes a
critical look at the Electronic Funds Transfer System (EFTS) of the standard
trust bank. Using the various methods of data collection discussed in chapter
three of this work, useful information were gathered and employed in the design
and implementation of an Electronic Funds Transfer system which has embedded in
it an advanced fraud check mechanism that works based on the baiting technique
of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). However, software was
developed using Visual basic version 6.0 to implement the work. The software
was tested and confirmed working.
