ABSTRACT
The study of this research is how demography and the population statistics can be used as tools towards the development of Nigeria economy which will also help to locate and identify scare resources by states, age and sex distribution in the country. The study shows the projected population distribution in Nigeria by age and sex from the year 2005 to 2010 and that of projected population by states from the year 2001 to 2010 with its analysis. The data used was collected from the National Population Commission (NPC) and the Federal Office of Statistics (FOS) Imo/Abia State. Information from this research work will help the government to identify the needs of its citizen and growth of the economy.
