ABSTRACT

Individuals and corporate bodies who are risk averse usually try to shift certain risks to others. Many risks, such as fire, loss of goads in transit, etc, can be insured against because statistics calculate the probability of loss arising from them. Such risks can therefore be pooled, and the business man, in return or exchange for the payment of a premium, 1>shift the responsibility for bearing them from his shoulders to an insurance company. Computer systems are now being used in Insurance Corporation in capturing different types of data for different purposes. Most insurance companies uses database and database management systems (DBMS) to keep track of all its data into useful information. The system in bid to enhance fast and efficient services will make provision for a computerized documentation of NICON services regarding their operations and services rendered to customers, done swiftly and faster and customer’s records secured. Chapter one of this research work is a general introduction of insurance, historical background ofthe case study, its aim ofstudy, method in which the study was done, the scope and limitation ofstudy and definition ofterms. Chapter two is the literature review, defining insurance and the basic types of insurance and some other insurance activities. Chapter three handles the research methodology and data collection techniques used and also the analysis ofthe existing system. 1 are available which enables insurance companies to Chapter four x-rays the system analysis and design model, showing the scope of the design reached, input specification, programs, and the system forms. Chapter five takes a closer look at the implementation of the system, conversion and changeover ofsystem and development cost. Finally, chapter six is the summary, recommendations and conclusion.
