Abstract

The research is a descriptive survey research design on the Availability and Utilization of ICT Resources in Mouau Library. The major purpose "was to ascertain the availability and utilization of information and Communication Technology in academic libraries. It was guided by five objectives andfive research questions. The study has a population of 71 which was totally enumeratedfor the study. The two data collection instruments were; a checklist and a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using simple percentage and mean scores. Furthermore, findings revealed that provision of speedy, easy and unlimited access to information; provision of more up-to-date information; provision of remote and round the clock access to information; increased efficiency in library operation and services; and enabling user’s self-education were the advantages of utilizing ICT in MOUA U. Staff low level of computer literacy, Inadequate telecommunicationfacilities in the library, Inadequate ICT infrastructure, Low level ofICT awareness among users and Low level ofICT skills ofstaff are some of the major problems hindering effective utilization of ICTs in MOUAU library. The studyproffered solutions to problems encountered in the use of ICT in mouau library which includes: Adequate funding, establishment of effective institutional policy on digitization, training ofstaffin computer technologies, etc.
