ABSTRACT

 Libraries are information centers whose primary function include collecting, organizing, storing, retrieving and disseminating information to users with a view to satisfying their information needs. Imagine walking into a vast library filled with thousands of books, journals, digital files, and multimedia resources yet none of them are arranged in any order. There are no catalogs, no subject groupings, and no clear paths to finding what you need. Frustrating, isn't it? This scenario highlights the indispensable role of organization in libraries. The true value of a library lies not just in the quantity of its holdings, but in how well those holdings are organized for easy access and meaningful use. Libraries house vast collections of information resources in different formats such as, books, journals, electronic resources, audiovisual materials, and more. Without systematic organization, access to these resources would be chaotic, time-consuming, and frustrating. Organizing library materials ensures that users can easily find, retrieve, and utilize information, thereby enhancing the overall effectiveness of the library in supporting teaching, learning, research, and knowledge dissemination QAguolu & Aguolu, 2020].
