Application Of Linear Programming To Production (A Case Study Of Sharon Paints And Chemical Limited Enugu)
ABSTRACT
This project was aimed at
developing a linear programming model that will enable Sharon Paints and
Chemical limited to maximize the total profit on the three paint types
(emulsion paint, oil paint, and primer oil paint).Both primary and secondary
data were collected from the company. Interview method was used to source data
primarily. Simplex method was used in the maximization analysis using the TORA
software. The TORA output is divided into two parts: the optimum solution
summary and sensitivity analysis. The optimum solution gave the optimum values
of the decision variables (activities) and the optimum objective values
(emulsion paint, oil paint, and primer oil paint).The sensitivity analysis
section of the output was used to test the robustness of the optimum solution.
I therefore recommend that Sharon Paints and Chemical Limited should pay more
attention to the production of emulsion paint and primer oil paint and less
attention to oil paint.
