ABSTRACT

This project is focused on the online medical appointment scheduling system. The accessibility to services of web clinic is of utmost importance for success of any medical outlet. Internet is a great way to make a medical center known to a large number of people that might potentially be interested in the services that the hospital might provide. Therefore, a creation ofawebsite that would provide different information about the clinic and allow the management and scheduling of appointments online might benefit in many ways to an existing clinic. Appointment scheduling systems are used to manage access to service providers. Many factors affect the performance of appointment systems which include arrival and service time variability, patient and provider preferences, available information technology and the experience level of the scheduling staff. Thus a proper scheduling system has to develop by considering all these factors which will increase patient satisfaction, which in turn increases profit. An online scheduling system allows individuals to conveniently and securely book their appointments online. Compared to the usual queuing method, the web-based appointment system could significantly increase patient's satisfaction with registration and reduce total waiting time effectively. The resulting system allows current and future patients to easily make appointments with different doctors of the clinic 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. In addition, this allows to unload the clinic's staff from a lot of work that had to be done before the website creation. Structured System Analysis and Design Methodology (SSADM) were adopted in the analysis and the programming language used for the development of the proposed system are HTML, PHP, CSS, and MYSQL. The research concluded that successful implementation of this software would solved the problems encountered from the existing system and facilitated fast decision making and possible recommendations are; Simple basic program should be written to assist the information seekers (patient), the management should renew the website hosting fee every three month to avoid the deactivation of the site from web, the admin should be active online to avoid hackers.
