Times Series Analysis Of Reported Criminal Cases Pending In The High Court Of Justice Umuahia North Abia State (2003 - 2007):- Nwaogbe Sylvester

Abstract

The major purpose ofthis project work on time series analysis on reported criminal and rape cases pending in the high court ofjustice umuahia north, abia state in 2003 to 2007 was discussed. The objective is to get a suitable model which will be used to forecast cases ofrape in abia state capital. We found out that; (1) components oftime series were present in the data, (2) the rate of crime is on the increase, (3) the season that has the lowest crime rate first (Jan, Feb, March), second (April, May, June), third (July, Aug, Sept,), and last (Oct, Nov, Dec) quarter has the highest crime rate. To combat crime, we suggest that our families, small firms, parastatals and government should be involved for there to be sanity in every works oflife. The law enforcement agencies should be equipped with more sophisticated weapons which should be used to combat crime. With these recommendations, we hope that this mess which has eaten into the fabrics of our society will be eradicated.
