Time Series Analysis Of Traffic Road Accident In Abia State From 2000 - 2004

ABSTRACT

Road accidents have been of great social and economic concern. It has become a vital topic for scientific investigation. The number of death today, the type of vehicles involved, particularly on the major roads of urban areas are what motivated me in writing this project. The study is essentially based on the time series analysis of Reported cases of Road Traffic accidents in Abia State from 2000- 2004. We are aware of the number of deaths on the high ways being recorded these days. This places a question mark on the basis of logic, backed by observations that certain people have worse accidents than others. Therefore, the major purpose of this work, is to construct a mathematical/statistical model which could be used to predict or forecast a reliable and dependable future fatality figure of accidents in Abia state and proffer suggestion on how to stop this ugly trend.
