ABSTRACT
Carbon dioxide (Co2) is one of the main greenhouse gases that is mainly emitted tluough the combustion of organic compounds like fossil fuels. The 1992 Intergovernmental panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report estimated that Co2is making the highest contribution of 72% to global warming. The very serious implication for the natural environment have resulted in universal interest both in detecting any actual global warming and the causal factors. With these factors in mind, this work used the statistical tool of Tnne Series Analysis to evaluate the Mauna Loa Co2data with a view to constructing a model to forecast future levels. The fitted trend line shows that the average atm. Co2 levels at the origin (t = 0), is 356.48 ppmv. and that for any unit change in time (month), the average atm. Co2 level changes (increases) by 0.144. The forecasts were provided by the additive and multiplicative models.
