The Prevalence Of Intestinal Helminth Among Patients In Hospitals In Enugu North Local Government Area Of Enugu State (A Case Study, 2000-2003)

ABSTRACT
This study was conducted using records of 7,062 patients in the selected hospitals in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State considered for intestinal helminth infections. A total of 1280 (18.0%) were infected. About 18.1% subjects were adults and 797 (29.4%) were the young infected individuals. The number of males infected were 501(7.6%). Many helminth infections are asymptomatic and could produce mild or typical cases, confusing symptoms and often neglected with bizarre, serious or chronic pictures are usually present.
